The home of Cambridge University's Formula Student team.
Established in 2006, Full Blue Racing is a team of University of Cambridge students who take part in the international Formula Student competition. Formula Student challenges teams of students to design and build a small formula-style race car, with the design brief that the car is a prototype for a 1000 unit-per-year production run for a vehicle intended for amateur autocross racers. With this in mind, teams are assessed not only on the speed and handling of the car, but also on business, cost and design presentations; thus the competition provides a good all-round representation of a real design challenge.

Keep track of our progress at Formula Student Gemany on the events blog. Apologies for its lateness, we have very limited internet here. Will fill in the past couple of days retrospectivley.
This week the Full Blue Racing team have competed in their first competition of the season, Formula Student UK in Silverstone.
Unfortunatly due to external delays beyond our control, the team arrived in Silverstone with an incomplete car. Nearly all parts had been manufactured but a few critical vehicle dynamics parts, such as the wishbones, were missing. Consequently only the engine and pedal box had been installed into the new (and blue) chassis. However the lack of car did not deter FBR from taking part in Silverstone.
On Thursday afternoon FBR10 arrived in Silverstone and was welcomed by approx 25 team members, who had travelled from as far as USA to participate in the competition. As soon as the chassis had been removed from the van, FBR were installing all available components and the vehicle dynamics team began to re-designed the wishbones so that a system could be manufactured and assembled within the Silverstone pits.
In between the build, we prepared and participated in the FSUK static events. The team performed very well in their businees presentation, pitching the mass production of their vehicle to a panel of judges. This year the team had worked closely with the Judge business school and MET department within the university to develop a credible business plan. The pitch was professionally delivered and well recieved by the judges. The team was please to be placed 29th as all members who presented had not given such a presentation before. The team did not place as well in the design cost events as there was not enough assembled car avaiable for the judges to adequately score the team. However constructive criticisms were made and the team now feel much better prepared for the static events in Germany.
The main aim for the team throughout the weekend was to build a complete car and have it safety inspected by the judges. After 3 long days of hard work, the team successfully scruitineered Sunday afternoon. Although the car was not completly safe to compete dynamically, the team were estatic to have finished the car in only a few days, a feat rarely witnessed in Formula Student. This magnanimus achievement was possible thanks to the large work space available within the Silverstone pits and the increadible teamwork and hard work exhbited by the FBR members. Full Blue Racing, although a static team, was an impressive force at the Silverstone competition.
Over the next few weeks the team shall continue to work hard and make improvements to the car fueled by the momentum gained at FSUK. We are all looking forward to the Germany competitions and are confident that no matter what problems we face, we shall be able to work through it as a team.
