Anti-roll bars for 2012, manufacture begins

January 22, 2012
In the latest in a line of design completions over the blitz week period is the anti-roll bars for 2012. Over the coming couple of weeks we hope to have the list of manufacturing jobs worked through, so this year (for the first year ever for FBR) we can run front and rear anti-roll bars. This should help the handling a great deal, helping us score top marks on the skid pan event. The manufacturing list is:

Rollbar mount (x2) – sheet metal cut to shape and then bent 180 degrees to form the mounting points for the front ARB. This will then be welded onto the bottom forward running tubes at the front of the chassis.

All spacers (x8 in total) – cut from lengths of tube.

Bushes (x4 or x6) – these are nylon bushes.

Moment arms (x8) – sheet metal, cut into shape as required.

Roll-bars – these will have the most complicated manufacture. The plan is to get the lengths of tube, and then to weld steel ‘plugs’ into the ends, making the end sections solid metal cylinders. These will then be cut off into a square profile to allow the moment arms to get purchase on the rollbar.
